Leadership

Denise A. Lascar, MN, MBA, MHA, President

Denise Lascar is an ambulatory perioperative specialist with demonstrated abilities in practice administration, patient care delivery models, staffing, education, construction and development of Ambulatory Healthcare facilities.

With 35-plus years in the healthcare arena, her profile includes: patient care advocate, previous owner of a perioperative operational efficiency consulting firm, healthcare executive, educational development specialist, ASC construction and facility designer, national speaker, and publisher.

She holds the following degrees: Registered Nurse, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Nursing, Master of Business and Master of Healthcare Administration.

Her affiliations include American College of Healthcare Executives, American College of Practice Management Executives, Medical Group Management Association, CESO (Center for Excellence in Surgical Outcomes), and President for WAAAG (Washington Area Anesthesia Administrators Group).


William Heron, MD, Medical Director

Dr. William Heron is a board-certified anesthesiologist. In addition to being an active accreditation surveyor with AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Healthcare), he also sat on the board of the Federated Ambulatory Surgery Association (FASA) from 2000 to 2007.

Denise Latimer-Wright, CNOR, Facility and Supply Chain Manager

Denise Latimer-Wright joined the MedStar Surgery Center team in 2001. In 2004, she earned the title of nurse manager and played a key role in achieving successful accreditation and annual licensure surveys by developing policies and procedures, and implementing staff orientation and educational programs.

In her current position as Facility and Supply Chain Manager, Denise is responsible for cost-effectively maintaining supply and pharmaceutical inventory, and for ensuring the proper function and maintenance of all equipment with the goal of providing a safe environment for all MedStar Surgery Center patients.

Debra A. Lanham, RN, Director of Perioperative Services

A member of the MSC (formerly known as CASI) team since 2005, Debra Lanham assumed the role of the clinical nurse manager in March 2007. She is responsible for the daily preoperative, surgical and post anesthesia operations, including clinical and financial management, staff education and development, and resource management with the ultimate goal of achieving quality and safe patient care. She is also responsible for performance improvement in accordance with the mission of CASI.

Prior to joining MSC, Debra served as the vice president of patient care services at Civista Medical Center. Her clinical nursing background is primarily in perioperative nursing.

Debra holds a Bachelor of Science in healthcare administration from Columbia Union College. She served as a member of the board of directors for the Southern Maryland ARC, and has worked with the Maryland Hospital Association on developing the Nursing and Clinical Leadership Institute.
